Alfalfa or the California Clover has a great action on the appetite and digestion, it improves it and thus, results in a gain in weight and improved mental and physical vigour. Alfalfa acts as a fat producer, correcting the tissue waste. It increases the quality and quantity of milk in nursing mothers. Clinically, it helps in the cases of diabetes insipidus and phosphaturia where there is polyuria and frequent urging to urinate. It is suited in cases characterized by a left-sided headache with dull, heavy feeling in the occiput, impaired appetite and thirst increased, and flatulence with distension in abdomen. In its effect on sleep, it induces a quiet, reposeful and refreshing sleep.
