The characteristic symptoms of this remedy include weakness, soft pulse, coldness, general depression and stitching pains which may be felt in any part of the body or in connection with any affection. Early morning aggravation is very characteristic. It is a very useful remedy in the treatment of Hypothyroidism and Coxitis. It has a marked action on respiratory system where symptoms like stitching pains in the chest, cough with relaxed uvula, wheezing and dry hard cough (at 3:00 a.m.) predominate. It is also effective in the management of Hydrothorax.

Kali carbonicum is also used in hip diseases and backache where small of back feels weak especially during pregnancy and after miscarriage. Suited to females for the complaints after parturition. Very effective in pains of knees and paralysis of old people.
