Tonsillitis is inflammation of the tonsils which are a pair of prominent masses of lymphoid tissue that lie on each side of the throat between two folds of soft tissue that bound the fauces. It is most commonly caused by a viral infection but can also be caused from infection with bacteria. Symptoms include soreness of throat, enlarged tonsils, enlarged lymph nodes in neck, painful swallowing, malaise and fever. Tonsils and back of throat appear swollen and red. Complications include peritonsillar abscess. Action of Ingredients: Calcarea phosphorica: Swollen tonsils, cannot open mouth without pain. Adenoid growth. Tonsils enlarged. Tonsillitis. Sore aching in throat, feels hollow. Kali muriaticum: Follicular tonsillitis. Tonsils inflamed; enlarged so much, can hardly breathe. Swollen glands around the jaw and neck. Ferrum phosphoricum: Tonsills red and swollen. Sore throat with colds. Ulcerated sore throat. Mouth hot, fauces red and inflammed.
