It is the active principle of Santonica and is of great help to children who grind teeth with night cough. For Urinary tract diseases, Santoninum is effective in conditions like chronic cystitis, incontinence and dysuria. Occipital headache with chromatic hallucinations and itching of nose are other important indications for the use of this drug in clinical practice. In the case of worm diseases, it is highly effective in the expulsion of Ascaris lumbricoides and thread worms but not the tapeworms.
