Common rheumatic disorders include Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, etc. Each condition having its own aetiology and symptoms.

• Osteoarthritis: Commonly called wear and tear arthritis, which is a degeneration that affects the weight bearing joints like hips, knees, and spine. It can also affect fingers, thumb, neck and large toe. Symptoms include pain and soreness especially on movement of joint, stiffness after rest, joint swelling, etc.
• Rheumatoid arthritis: It affects bilateral joints resulting in inflammation of synovium of the joints due to an auto-immune pathology. Skin, eyes, lungs, heart, blood or nerves can also be affected with time.
• Gout: It is a metabolic disease marked by a painful inflammation of the joints, deposits of urates in and around the joints, and usually an excessive amount of uric acid in the blood. Most common joint affected is the first metatarsophalangeal joint i.e., joint at the base of big toe. There are recurrent attacks of a red, tender, hot and swollen joint.

Action of Ingredients:

Ferrum phosphoricum: Ferr-p is indicated in articular rheumatism. There is rheumatic pain in the shoulder which extends to the chest and wrist. Neck is stiff with swollen and painful hands.

Magnesium phosphoricum: Indicated when there is pain in lower limbs, alternating the sides. Sciatica with tender feet and crampy contraction of fingers. Great remedy for writer’s and player’s cramp.

Kali sulphuricum: Kali-sulph has shifting and wandering pains. There is pain in the nape, back and limbs which are worse in a warm room. Indicated for Arthritic nodes and rheumatism which is worse from heat.

Natrum sulphuricum: There is pain in limbs (sciatica) compelling to change position frequently. Pain in the hip joints which is worse on left side and from stooping. Rheumatism which is worse in damp cold weather. There is stiffness of knees and cracking of joints.
