This drug has a marked action on the jaws. It is used in clinical conditions like exostosis, gum abscess, caries of bones, Osteitis, Periostitis and Osteosarcoma. Also, tumours in general can be managed effectively with Hekla lava. Other indicated symptoms are facial neuralgia from carious teeth and after extraction, indurated cervical glands and enlargement of the maxillary bone.

It is also useful in bone necrosis and sinus after mastoid operation.
